Le pavillon d’or est un endroit très connu. Il est construit comme une maisons traditionnel de riche. Il s’agissait à l’origine, en 1397, de la villa de Yoshimistu, troisième shogun Ashi- kaga ; sa demeure fut convertie en temple par son fils. En 1950, l’édifice disparut
dans l’incendie qu’alluma un jeune moine dévoré par la folie, thème du roman de Yukio Mishima, Le Pavillon d’Or. Il fut rebâti à l’identique en 1955, si ce n’est qu’on le recouvrit entièrement de feuilles d’or – auparavant, seul l’étage était doré.
The Golden Pavilion is a very famous place. It is built like a traditional wealthy house. It was originally, in 1397, the villa of Yoshimistu, the third Ashikaga shogun. His home was converted into a temple by his son. In 1950 the building disappeared in a fire set on by a young monk devoured by madness, the theme of Yukio Mishima’s novel, The Golden Pavilion. It was rebuilt identically in 1955, except that it was completely covered with gold leaf – previously, only the floor was gilded.
Le jardin a été créé pour aller avec le pavillon d’or, les arbres sont taillé à la japonaise pour aller en parfaite harmonie avec celui-ci.
The garden was created to go with the golden pavilion, the trees are pruned in Japanese style to go in perfect harmony with it.
